Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a common condition. About 1 of 3 adults in America have high blood pressure. While it is a common problem it is a problem tied to many health issues such as heart disease and even kidney disease. Luckily, high blood pressure can be a manageable problem. That's where our team comes in, with our certified hypertension specialists, Dr. Arley Diaz, Dr. Michael O’Shea, and Dr. Anthony Poindexter to help our patients with the right medical care and knowledge.

Let's talk about how adding a bit of exercise into your routine can help reduce your high blood pressure. Regular physical activity can lower your blood pressure by about 5 to 8 mm Hg if you have high blood pressure. Now, this doesn’t mean getting up and running a mile every morning, you can exercise in simple ways as well. Things like doing household chores, gardening, walking, and using the stairs regularly can help. Simple consistent actives like those can make a difference. However, if you are looking for more of a challenge for your physical activity there are options like aerobic exercise, swimming, cycling, and resistance training.

There are many options you can take to increase your physical activity to help reduce high blood pressure. You can consult with your doctor or a specialist to find what works best for you and your needs. As always, you can ask our staff any questions you have and how to best take care of your health. We are here to help!
